Romantic Opera (1830-1900)

The Romantic Opera (1830-1900) collection includes 26 videos from The Royal Opera, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Real and other leading opera houses from 2002 to 2020. Productions include David McVicar's production of Faust (The Royal Opera, 2019), Puccini's La Bohème conducted by Antonio Pappano (The Royal Opera House, 2017), as well as two documentaries by Kick Films, Global Wagner: From Bayreuth to the World (2020), and Crazy for Opera, which reveals life behind the scenes at the Bavarian State Opera (2017).



This collection includes:

  • Nobel Prize-winning writer Dario Fo's inventive production of Gioachino Rossini's comic opera, La Gazzetta.
  • The 2014 Dutch National Opera production of L'Étoile, which 'sparkles under [director] Laurent Pelly' (Opera News).
  • Richard Jones's acclaimed production of Puccini's most heartrending opera, La Boheme. Sonya Yoncheva and Charles Castronovo lead the award-winning cast, while Emmanuel Villaume conducts the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House and the Royal Opera Chorus in some of the composer's most memorable music.
