Jenny formed the Jenny Game Quartet (as it was then known) in 1993 to perform her original contemporary jazz compositions. Since then, she has managed and lead the ensemble on tenor and soprano saxophones. Jenny Game-Lopata Quintet: Jenny Game-Lopata, soprano and tenor saxophone; Andrea Keller, piano; Poul Grage, drums and percussion; Peter Neville, marimba and percussion; Ian Wilmot, bass. Jenny Game-Lopata is a composer and sax player as well as a scholar and educator. She is currently the Academic Leader at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) where she also teaches music and cultural studies. Her contemporary compositions have been performed at a number of festivals, for example, in 2012, her intercultural chamber opera The Aqueduct, premiered at the Restrung Chamber Music Festival in Brisbane. She been invited to perform my compositions at a number of international festivals including the Wangaratta, Melbourne and Manly International Jazz Festivals. Jenny has published articles on a variety of topics including improvisation, intercultural music and education. In her 2014 article Combining Formal and Informal Approaches to Meet the Challenges of Teaching Music Performance in a Contemporary, Tertiary, Online Environment, Jenny discusses the global trend of increasingly diverse and enhanced learning opportunities and how these are increasingly becoming part of learning processes, both formal and informal.
